Perithemis tenera
"Eastern Amberwing"
Perithemis tenera – "Eastern Amberwing" of the Family Libellulidae, a small amberwing dragonfly of a yellow-brown color. The females' beautiful amber colored wings are marked with reddish-brown bands. Amberwings are generally found over ponds and along slow streams with floating vegetation. The nymphs are found among floating vegetation and the dense emergent vegetation of ponds. This dragonfly has a wide distribution in the eastern United States and is found in eastern and southern New Mexico at suitable fresh water habitats.
