"Common Green Darner"
Anax junius – "Common Green Darner" of the Family Aeshnidae, a rather large species with a green thorax. The males have blue abdomens with a wide black dorsal stripe while the females have yellow and brown abdomens. The nymphs are found actively climbing on submerged aquatic vegetation and are camouflaged with green and brown coloration. The common green darner is widely distributed throughout the United States and is found in slow moving waters, probably in all counties of New Mexico.
