Celithemis fasciata
"Banded Pennant"
Celithemis fasciata – "Banded Pennant" of the Family Libellulidae, a dark southwestern species with jet-black wing markings. In New Mexico this dragonfly has only been found in Chaves County at freshwater sinkholes at Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge, but it is generally found elsewhere on ponds and lakes. Typically the nymphs live in weed beds of ponds and shoals, hiding among roots and the creeping stems of submerged vegetation.
