Sympetrum occidentale fasciatum
"Western Meadowhawk"
Sympetrum occidentale fasciatum – "Western Meadowhawk" of the Family Libellulidae, a slender species with a pale brown thorax. The basal halves of the fore and hind wings are yellow with brown bands on the outer margins. The nymphs live on the bottom of weedy ponds and marshy areas along spring-fed streams. This is a western species that has been collected only at freshwater springs at Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Chaves County, New Mexico.
