Bert,
Shane Bell is(was?) a Marine, from So. Norwalk, CT, who enlisted early on for Korea. I do not know what units he was in, or when he saw combat.
I am about 3/4 years younger than Shane, knew him as an older guy, so my memory of the details is sketchy. Our families knew each other. When Shane came back from Korea he was a vegetable, able to walk, etc., but was unable to function. At the time the VA was reluctant to take him in--said he was only about 30% disabled. My father, Campbell Coxe, WW1 and WW2, Maj USMCR(saw very limited duty, but still a Marine) went to bat for Shane, and got him 100% disability and room at the VA, I think in or near Hartford, CT. The Bell family moved shortly thereafter. My father died in '53. I was in the Corps from '54-'58. Every so often I think about Shane, so thought I would ask.

Please give Shane's branch of service, units he served in, when and where he saw combat, which VA he was in, and the dates of his care there.

Also, give a postal mail or telephone contact where direct information may be obtained.

Also, give your own basis for this enquiry.
